Hohoe (V/R), Sept. 23, GNA – A 24-year old carpenter, Mawuli Agbenya= of Gbibla in the Hohoe Municipality has been remanded into prison custody by a Hohoe Circuit Court for defiling a 12-year old class five pupil. Agbenya pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on September 27. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr Ben Dadzie, told the cour= t that on March 14 the victim unknowingly followed Agbenya to 93somewhere”= in order to receive a gift. He said Agbenya then lured victim into an uncompleted building and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her, warning her not to tell anyone of what had transpired between them.
ASP Dadzie said the victim, however, due to severe pains told her mother of her ordeal. He said a report about the incident was then made to the Police, leading to the arrest of Agbenya while the victim was given a medical form and sent to the Margaret Marquart Hospital at Kpando where tests confirmed the defilement.
