Akuapem Presbytery of Presbyterian Church of Ghana gets new chairperson

Reverend Dr Samuel Ayete-Nyampong, 52, has taken over as the 19th Chairperson of the Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana for the next five years.

Rev. Dr Ayete-Nyampong, former Director of Inter-Faith and Research Center of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, succeeded Rev. Dr Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, whose tenure of office as Presbytery Chairperson ended on August 31 this year.

Rev. Dr Ayete-Nyampong is a Theologian Scholar from Aberdeen University, Scotland, where he obtained a Doctorate Degree, specializing in Pastoral Care and Counseling.

The Clergyman, former Director of Ecumenical and Social Relations at the General Assembly Office of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, was elected at the 84th Akuapem Presbytery Conference, at Akropong in April this year.

At a handing over ceremony at Akropong on Friday, the out-going Presbytery chairperson, Rev Dr Mante, thanked the Presbytery for supporting him during his five-year term of office.

Rev. Dr Mante asked the church members to support the new chairman to steer the affairs of the Presbytery.

Rev. Dr Ayete-Nyampong thanked the conference for electing him as the new chairperson.

He also commended the out-going Presbytery chairperson for his dedication, commitment and exemplary leadership style, which had made the Presbytery one of the best in the church.

Rev Dr Ayete-Nyampong promised to continue uncompleted work initiated by Rev Mante.

He said he would work hard to strengthen the local congregation and that of the districts to be able to discharge their functions effectively.

Rev Dr Ayete-Nyampong said he would solicit international partnership and cooperation to give the Presbytery an international image.

He said that the Presbytery would establish Akuapem Bible School to promote evangelism and to train the youth for leadership positions.
