Methodist Church, Ghana presents scholarship awards to 33 students

Takoradi Sept.12,GNA-The Methodist Church, Ghana, on Sunday presented scholarships to 33 brilliant but needy students at the 11th scholarship awards ceremony in Takoradi.

Speaking at the function, Very Reverend Samuel Mensah, Director of Christian Education Division of the Church, said the Church would spend not less than 36,000 Cedis this year on the scholarship scheme.

He said the Church spent almost 32,000 Cedis on 103 Senior High School students in the 2010/2011 academic year.

Very Reverend Mensah said for the past eleven years, the Church has raised about 174,000 Cedis towards the scholarship scheme.

He said so far, about 628 students have benefited from the scheme, which started in January 2000.

Very Reverend Mensah said the scheme has helped to improve the academic performance and moral character of students.
