Church commissions career people as pastors-

Ho, Sept 5, GNA – The Global Evangelical Church has commissioned and assigned pastoral duties to 12 people with varied careers. They formed the first batch of actively working people to be trained a= s priests under the Church’s modular pastoral training scheme. The new clerics, all awarded diplomas in theology, are Seth Dzokoto, Lecturer at the Department of Engineering, Ho Polytechnic, Seth Agbeyome, Linguistic and Political Scientist, Justin Amakwah, Theologian, Wisdom Amenoagbe, Administrator and Richard Ametsitsi, Animal Scientist. The rest are Delali Dzansi, ICT Professional, Samuel Pious Elewokor, Educator, Daniel Ensior, Business Management and Adult Education expert, George Honya, Agricultural Economist, Eric Nartey, Theologian, Samuel Kornu= , Geological Engineer and Finance expert and John Korsikorkor, an ICT Busines= s Executive. They signed legal documents on Sunday, enjoining them to work for the Church in various parts of the country, performing pastoral duties for two years on probation after which they would be confirmed as priests. In a sermon the Rev Prince Tefe, the Synod Clerk, told the congregatio= n that humanity was at the verge of being enmeshed in sin. He said the widespread deviant behaviors being exhibited by humanity was a clarion call for all to join hands to bolster good against evil. Rev Tefe said everybody, in whatever vocation or situation, should put in a word to prop Christian values against evil at any opportunity and lauded the Church’s programme of bringing career people to work actively for Christ as timely.

Rev Tefe said the notion that priesthood was a lowly paid job was erroneous as the rewards of a conscientious priest went beyond tangible gains.

Right Reverend Dr Emmanuel Komla Gbordzoe, Global Church Moderator, officiated the commissioning and administered the oaths. The Church consecrated 53 Evangelists on Saturday to work in the Church’s 13 Presbyteries, 12 in Ghana and one in Togo. 05 Sept 11
