AG Leads Delegation to Prague

The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo is leading a nine-member Ghanaian delegation to attend the 10th International Anti-Corruption Conference in Prague, The Czech Republic this weekend.

The conference, which is held every two years, brings together leading members in the executive, private sector, civil society and developing partners to formulate strategies to combat corruption. It is organised by the International Anti-Corruption Conference on behalf of Transparency International, the global anti-corruption movement. The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Together against Corruption: Designing Strategies, Assessing Impact and Reforming Corrupt Institutions.’

Commenting on the relevance of the conference, Nana Akufo-Addo said it is a major opportunity for the government to learn new strategies to deal with the problem of corruption. He said his ministry would benefit from insights of participants and it would help him formulate the legal infrastructure needed to support President Kufuor’s policy of ‘zero tolerance for corruption.’

The Ghanaian delegation, which is being sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), comprises people from the private sector, executive, the opposition, civil society and the media. The previous conference, the 9th in the series since it was instituted in 1983, was held in Durban, South Africa.
