Accra, Aug. 29, GNA – President John Evans Atta Mills is asking for restraint in the agitation at the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital following the termination of the appointment its founder, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng.
The President is urging all to remain calm whiles he reviewed the current situation.
A statement issued in Accra on Monday by Mr Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, a deputy Minister of Information, said President Mills had become aware of developments at the Cardio Centre since returning home from South Africa on Sunday.
“The President has subsequently convened a meeting this morning to receive a full brief on the situation and also to consider a petition sent to his office by doctors and staff of the Cardiothoracic Centre. “The President is therefore asking for restraint and urging that all remain calm whiles he reviews the current situation.” Meanwhile, reliable sources told GNA that a meeting at Korle Bu on Monday on the issue yielded no dividend. The sources said a meeting had been convened at the Castle on Monday afternoon.
