Assin North NDC members pick nomination form for MCE

Assin Foso (C/R), Aug. 27, GNA – The Assin North Constituency Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and some branch chairmen of the party on Friday picked nomination form on behalf of Mr Alex Antwi Boasiako, Assin Municipal Chief Executive, to contest the forth coming parliamentary primaries.

Mr Tamimu Abdullah, a branch chairman, led the executives and a large crowd of supporters clad in NDC paraphernalia, amidst drumming, dancing and chanting the party slogan through the principal streets of the town before picking the form.

Mr Abdullah paid 200 Ghana Cedis, being nomination fees, to Mr James Besavi Agbolosu, Constituency Secretary.

Mr Agbolosu urged them to return the completed form before the closing date, September 16, 2011, in accordance with the rules and regulations of the party.

The Constituency Secretary said it was only the vetting committee that could disqualify a candidate.

Mr Abdullah led the party members on a float through some streets of the town and later presented the form to Mr Antwi-Boasiako at the forecourt of the Assin Municipal Assembly.

Mr Abdullah said the executives and the entire branch/ward chairmen jointly decided to pick the form for the MCE because of his competence.

He said when the MCE became the parliamentary candidate, the party could win the seat from the NPP in the 2012 general elections.

Receiving the nomination form, Mr Antwi-Boasiako thanked the executives for the confidence reposed in him and called for hard work and unity among members for the party to win the seat.

He said wining election is by numbers and urged party members to intensify their campaign to propagate the good work of the party and the government to improve the living standards of Ghanaians.
