Malam fined GH¢200 for assaulting four-year-old girl

Akim Oda (E/R), Aug 10, GNA – The Akim Oda Magistrate Court has ordered Muhammad Zirrick, an Akroso-based Malam, to pay a fine of GH¢200.00 for indecent assault on a four-year-old girl.

He would pay additional GH¢300.00 as compensation to the victim.

Zirrick who pleaded guilty to the charge, would serve a 12-month prison term in hard labour if he fails to pay the fine.

Briefing the Court, presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor, Police Chief Inspector Adelaide Appiakorang said the complainant was the grandmother of the victim who lived in the same vicinity with the convict at Akim Akroso.

She stated that the victim and her family usually watched television in Zirrick’s room and that sometime in June, 2011 the girl complained of abdominal pains.

The prosecutor said upon interrogation the victim told her grandmother that when she went to watch television in the convict’s room, he pushed her onto his bed and forcibly inserted his ringers to her private part.

The Prosecutor said the victim’s grandmother therefore made a report to the police and the girl was issued with a medical form to go to the Oda Government Hospital for examination, while Zirrick was arrested.
