Fulani herdsmen invade Berekum

The Chief Executive Officer of Premier side, Berekum Arsenal, Alhaji Yakubu Moro, has dispelled rumours that he is behind the invasion of Fulani herdsmen at Kotaa, near Berekum.

He however admits that he also have some Fulani men manning his cattle but believes some other fulanimen are disturbing the community dwellers.

The people of Kotaa are complaining that over thirty Fulani herdsmen have invaded the area and destroying their farms with their cattle.

They alleged that the Fulani men were brought in by the Arsenal boss.

But Yakubu Moro told host of Space FM’s Morning Flight Programme, Yaw Barima on Wednesday that the destruction of farms cannot be attributed to him and that no one in the area has reported to the police of his or her farmed being destroyed by the cattle in the area.

“Some people are bitterly complaining that their farms are being destroyed yet no one has reported the matter to the police”, he said.

He added that those peddling rumours that he is the brain behind the Fulani invasion are only trying to dent his image as a successful football administrator.

“It appears some people are bent on denting my image inspite of all that I have achieved for Berekum and the region, but they would not succeed”, he said.

Yakubu Moro said that he also believes that the Fulani herdsmen and their cattle pose a threat to the community and efforts must be made by authorities to address the problem.

“As a citizen of Berekum, I believe the Fulani herdsmen and their cattle are a threat to farms and authorities must address the problem”, he said.
