Bagre Dam is nowhere near spillage

Bolgatanga , Aug 3, GNA – The Upper East Regional Coordinating Council has assured the public that the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso is nowhere near spillage as being speculated by some sections of the media.

A statement signed by the RCC Public Relations Officer, Mr Abdul-Kassim Medjeda, said following recent reports about the possible spillage of water from the dam, the RCC was in touch with the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso and SONABEL, the Electricity Company of Burkina Faso on the possibility of any spillage.

Latest information from Burkina Faso indicates that the water level in the Bagre Dam as at Tuesday August 2 was 227.24metres.

The minimum level is 226.80 metres whiles the maximum level is 235 metres. It should be noted from the above therefore that the water level is nowhere near spillage.

The statement appealed to farmers and the general public to go about their businesses and disregard any rumour of any possible water spillage.
