One dead, four others injured in accident at Nsawam

Nsawam (E/R), Aug 1, GNA – A 27-year-old man, Kofi Twumasi, from Osenease near Asamankese, died on the spot in an accident at Kofisah near Nsawam, at the weekend.

Four others, on board the taxi with Twumasi, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Nsawam Governmental Hospital.

Chief Police Inspector Patrick Bosiako of the Nsawam Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU), who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at Nsawam, said the taxi cab skidded off the road and crashed into cement blocks piled up near the road.

He said the deceased and the injured were travelling from Nsawam to attend a funeral at Kraboakese when the accident occurred and that the driver bolted after the accident.

Inspector Bosiako said the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Nsawam Government Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

He said one Stella Akoto, 25, one of the injured, is on admission at the hospital, whiles the other three passengers had been treated and discharged.

He said efforts are being made by the Police to arrest the driver, whiles investigations continue.
