Gomoa East District Assembly to retrieve stolen money

Agona Swedru, July 28, GNA – The Gomoa East District Assembly would soo= n retrieve the Gc387, 000 that was allegedly stolen from its account about three months ago, Mr Isaac Kingsley Ehunu-Armah, the District Chief Executive, has said. Mr Ehunu-Armah said this at a send-off party organized for Superintendent of Police Philip Alleawobu, the Agona Swedru District Commander who has been transferred to Tema as the Regional Crime Officer. “The money would soon be retrieved,” he said and appealed to the chiefs and people of Gomoa East District to exercise restraint and wait patiently for the Assembly.

The amount was cashed from the Assembly’s accounts at Agona Swedru and Kasoa branches of the Ghana Commercial Bank and Cape Coast branch of the National Investment Bank by some unidentified persons. The Gc300, 000 was donated by Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) for water and sanitation project at Gomoa Akwamu and Gc87, 000 was part of the Assembly’s share of the Common Tund. Mr Ehunu-Armah praised the Agona Swedru Divisional Command of the Burea= u of National Investigation (BNI) for vital roles they played in the search for the money. He said it was unfortunate that some people in the Gomoa East District pointed accusing fingers at him and other officials of the assembly of having a hand in the money.

Mr Emmanuel Kweku Tetteh, Agona West Municipal Chief Executive, commended Mr Alleawobu for the good work he did to reduce the crime rate in the Agona West Municipality.

Mr Alleawobu thanked the Police personnel at Swedru District Command, chiefs and the public for the cooperation given him during his three years= ‘ stay at Agona Swedru. He said he was not happy about lynching of suspects.
