Ex–Convict jailed for stealing four sheep

Cape Coast, July 21, GNA – Musa Alhassan, 27, Mason, was on Wednesday sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for stealing four sheep valued at GHC 600 belonging to one Mr Sulemana Seidu, a Security Officer.

Mr Kwame Ohemeng-Mensah, a District Court Judge in Cape Coast, sentenced the accused who is also an ex-convict, on his own plea.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Daniel Agbezuhlor told the court that the complainant and the convicted live in the same house at Antem New Site, a suburb of Cape Coast.

He said on Monday July 11, the complainant, Mr Seidu travelled to Navrongo and the accused took advantage of his absence and stole four of his sheep.

The convict sent one of the sheep to a slaughter house to sell but luck eluded him when the complainant’s brother one, Yahaya Seidu spotted him offering the animal for sale.

Chief Inspector Agbezuhlor said when the convict was approached and questioned about how he got the animal; he abandoned the sheep and fled the scene.

The complainant, who was informed about the incidence on phone, cut short his trip and returned to Cape Coast on Sunday, July 17 to make a formal report at the Police Station.

The accused was later arrested and during investigations admitted having stolen only one sheep.
