Mills’ 67th birthday at Osu Children’s home

Accra, July 21, GNA – Dr Hannah Louisa Bissiw, Deputy Minister of Water Resource, Works and Housing, on Thursday said government was committed to seeking the welfare of the less privileged in the country.

She noted that children were future leaders of every country and they deserved proper care, attention, affection and love.

Dr Bissiw said this at the celebration of the 67th birthday of President John Evans Atta Mills at Osu Children’s Home in Accra.

It was organised by the Friends and Supporters of Atta Mills (FSAM) on behalf of the President.

Dr Bissiw, who represented President Mills at the event, said: “Any nation that does not take good care of the less privileged is not worthy of God’s blessings”.

She advised the children to study hard and be humble to enable them to achieve their aims and appealed to teachers to give proper training to school children.

Mr Stephen Adongo, Acting Director, Department of Social Welfare, said that the Osu Home needed help to address many challenges including inadequate manpower, electricity and insufficient funds. He praised the FSAM for organising the celebration of the President’s birthday at the orphanage.

Mr. Kwabena Adjei, Coordinator of FSAM, said the group would launch an educational fund dubbed: 93The Pan African Child”, to support orphans in the country. 21 July 11
