Court jails cable thief

Akim Oda (E/R) July 18, GNA – Sulley Issah, a driver’s mate has been sentenced to 24 months imprisonment by the Akim Oda Magistrate’s Court, for stealing 100metres P.V.C Aluminium conductor and 40metres of P.V.C Copper Conductor worth GH¢560.

Issah who stole the items belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana pleaded guilty to stealing.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Kwadwo Ahenkorah, told the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor, that Issah and Mr Kwadwo Tetteh, a saw miller who is a complaint in the case lived in the same vicinity.

He said at about 0230 hours on June 19, Mr Tetteh was on his way home from church when electricity supply in the area suddenly went off.

Chief Inspector Ahenkorah said Issah who was cutting the cables took off when the complainant spotted him but luck eluded him and was arrested.
