Outgoing Cuban Ambassador calls on Mills

Accra, July 18, GNA – Outgoing Cuban Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Miguel Perez Cruz, after five years duty in Ghana, on Monday called on President John Evans Atta Mills at the Osu Castle to bid him farewell.

With reminisces of the years stayed in Ghana, Mr Cruz extended his appreciation and that of his home country to the President and the people of Ghana for the enhanced relations between Ghana and Cuba.

President Mills thanked his guest for the developmental support received from Cuba over the years.

Describing his service as excellent, President Mills commended the ambassador for enhancing relations between the two nations.

President Mills said Ghana had a lot to be grateful for as Cuba had made available medical expertise, medical doctors serving in Ghana’s remote parts, medical facilities and scholarship schemes to Ghana.

President Mills expressed the faith that Mr Cruz would use his experience in Ghana in his further diplomatic career.

President Mills wished the envoy well in his career, and said Ghana would extend similar cooperation to his successor.

President Mills and the outgoing ambassador exchanged gifts.
