Agona Nyakrom (C/R), July 17, GNA – The Otillie Ross Vocational Training Institute, owned by a German, is constructing a six-classroom block and dormitories valued at two million Ghana cedis at Agona Nyakrom.
Ms Sarah Doreen Thompson, Headmistress of the Institute, said at a press briefing at Nyakrom on Friday that the institute aims to assist the training of girls in gainful ventures.
She said girls in and around Nyakrom would be assisted to discover and develop their talents and capabilities in various vocations.
Ms Thompson said the institute had added dressmaking, hairdressing to its Home Economics as well as modern dish preparation to meet the demand of restaurants and hotels.
She, therefore, appealed to parents and guardians to send their wards to the institute to be trained to become financially self-supporting to avoid the situation where they might be compelled to indulge in immorality for money.
“A well-trained woman is sure of a better future to help her become good home and office manager”, Ms Thompson stressed.
Ms Otillie Ross, a German Investor and Proprietor of the Institute, said the students in addition to their academic work received effective career guidance and counselling tuition.
She said the institute currently run free extra classes for over 50 primary pupils and students in Junior High Schools (JHS) as part of its contribution to promote education.
