Youth urged to learn rich cultural values of society

Takoradi, July 14, GNA – The youth has been charged to learn the rich social and cultural values bequeathed to the society by their forefathers.

The country’s traditional values had been over-looked and relegated to the background, with the advent of technology and modernity, Mr Francis Ghartey, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Education Culture Coordinator told the GNA, in Takoradi, on Wednesday.

He made the comment, during the 12th Inter-Circuits Basic Schools Festival of Arts and Culture.

“It is time for the youth to be educated on social values and culture in general, to enable them to do the right things expected of them”, he said.

Mr Ghartey said the festival serves as a platform to inculcate positive cultural values and practices into the youth.

He indicated that, winners of the inter-circuit competition would represent the metropolis at the district level, slated for July 31- August 3, this year.

Ms Theresa Yankah, who represented the Metropolitan Director of Education, observed that the festival would also unearth young talents, as well as assessing the work output of the circuits taking part.

Eleven circuits in the region are participating in the festival.
