New Dzaasetse installed

The Djaasetse of Kpakpatse We Royal Family of Asere, Nii
Kwatei Olemla I has called on the government through the Ministry of Local
Government and Rural development to ensure that more sanitation workers are
employed especially the youth within the Ga Mashie community to tackle waste
and filth in the city and its environs so as to curb the sanitation problems as
well as create employment for them. These measures he believe will prevent diseases
which have been the source of untimely deaths and a drain on the nation’s
scarce resources.

Nii Kwatei Olemla I known in private life as Mr. Nii John
Quartey, Chief Executive Officer of Pegasus Security made this call when he was
enstooled and outdoored as the new Djaasetse of the Kpakpatse We Djaase Council
at the Asere Kpakpatse We in Accra on Saturday.

He also expressed worried about the various chieftaincy
disputes within the Ga State and pledged that he will assist the various
institutions such as the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs in bringing
peace to the region.

He appealed to all Ghanaians especially, those residing in
the capital city and its environs to
respect, accommodate and tolerate the customs and traditions of the Ga-speaking
people as they do in their respective communities, since every traditional area
in Ghana has rules and regulations, customs, traditions and taboos that governs
as well as guides them in their daily lives.

The ceremony was under the distinguished chairmanship of Nii
Amarkai III, Djaasetse and Acting Asere Mantse.

The Kpakpatse We Royal Family of Asere has for the past five
years or more been without a Djaase Council and a Djaasetse to direct the
affairs of the family as well as to assist in the administration of the Ga
Mashie community and for this reason, the council of elders selected from the
three Royal Households names: Kpakpa Kakadaan We, Kpakpa Fio We and Kpakpa
Blofonyo We and in collaboration with the Principal head of family (Weku Nukpa)
Alhaji Kasim Kwatelai Quartey enstooled Nii Kwatei Olemala I as the Djaasetse
after the performance of all customary
rites in accordance with the Ga custom, traditions and usage. The Chairman of
the planning committee was Sheikh Nii Kwatei Watson-Quartey.
