Court jails electrician for stealing cement blocks

Awutu Bereku, July 7, GNA – A magistrates’ court at Awutu Bereku on Wednesday convicted Joseph Agyapong to six months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing 629 pieces of cement blocks belonging to a trader. He pleaded guilty.

The prosecution told the court presided over by Mr Ebenezer Osei-Darko that on June 26 the trader, Mr Daniel Okanfo, had information that the convict had been to his building site and collected the blocks to an unknown destination. Mr Okanfo lodged a complaint with the police and investigations led to the arrest of the convict. The prosecution said after admitting the offence Agyapong led the police to Annor town in Awutu, where Mr Okanfo identified the items as his.
