Trader remanded for stealing T-shirts

Takoradi, July 6, GNA 97 A Takoradi Circuit Court, on Wednesday, remanded Kwasi Adjei, a trader, in custody for allegedly stealing 200 pieces of T-shirts.

He pleaded not guilty and would re-appear in court on July 13. Giving the facts of the case, Inspector Victoria Tibson told the court, presided over by Mr Kwasi Boakye that, on July 4, this year, the complainant, Paul Asare left 200 pieces of T-shirts in his shop at Takoradi Market Circle.

She said the complainant later realized that someone had stolen the items, which were in a jute sack.

Upon his own investigations, he had information that someone was also selling a similar T-shirts at New Takoradi.

The prosecutor said Asare went to the place and saw that, the T-shirts were his items he imported from Togo.

But the person, who was selling the clothes said the items belonged to Adjei and a report was made to the police and the accused was arrested.

The accused denied the theft in his caution statement and said he would assist the police to arrest the person who sold the T-shirts to him.
