NPP outpaced NDC in development performance in Ho Municipality-NPP

Ho, June 28, GNA – The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) record of development performance in the Ho Municipality stands unmatched by the current and previous governments of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“We can confidently say that the Kufuor government outpaced and has done far better than both NDC 1 and 2 governments”, the Ho Central Constituency branch of the NPP asserted.

Addressing a press conference in Ho on Monday Mr Paul Aba, Head of Research Ho-Central NPP, said projects include the Ho Nurses School, OLA and Mawuko Girls’ Senior High schools, Ho Polytechnic and numerous six classroom blocks under HIPC initiative and GETFund were among projects handed over by the Kufuor administration in 2009.

Other projects were 93the Jubilee Park, street lights, Ho town roads, the Tsikpota and Barracks Bridge, the traffic management system and drains to improve sanitation and prevent flooding and the Ho-Fume road.

Mr Aba said projects being credited to the current government were executed by the government of former President Kufuor between 2001 and 2008.

Mr Aba said the condition of roads in Ho currently 93has become a nightmare to motorists as a result of lack of maintenance.”

He said the government was unlikely to start the proposed University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ho this September as promised because the bill needed to establish it was yet to be taken to Parliament.

Mr Aba said patients on admission at the Volta Regional Hospital who were previously fed free of charge now have to pay for their meals.

He said the Community Health School being constructed under the Kufuor administration has been abandoned in the bush while the Regional Library under construction is also in limbo.

Mr Aba alleged that President John Evans Atta Mills was unable to visit the Volta Region as part of his tour of the regions because the government has reneged on its promises to the region.

“We are challenging the NDC to come out and point to one single development project they have embarked upon and any of the promises they have been able to fulfil”, Mr Aba said.
