Accra, June 20, GNA – Right Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey, Moderator of the General Assembly of Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) on Monday condemned activities of homosexuals in the country.
He said homosexuality spiritually affected perpetuators of the act and should not be encouraged in the society, because the act was unnatural and unacceptable in the sight of Jesus Christ.
Rt. Rev Martey made the commendation during a courtesy call on Nii Armah Ashietey, Greater Accra Regional Minister in Accra. He expressed gratitude to the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC) for their support, and called on stakeholders to dialogue to reduce the high rate of indiscipline in the country, especially Accra Metropolis.
“It is not the duty of government and the church but all stakeholders to curb the menace of indiscipline in the society,” he added.
The Moderator of the General Assembly said discipline had been the hallmark of the church and would endeavour to instill discipline among the members.
He pointed out that the citizenry needed to be educated on tradition and chieftaincy to understand the issues and appreciate their contributions for peace and tranquility to prevail in the communities.
On land litigation, Rt. Rev Martey said it should be prevented to bring peace and co-existence between individuals in the society for development.
He said for increased investments in the Greater Accra Region, stakeholders needed to show concern and dialogue for strategies to brand the Region.
Nii Ashietey said the church had a role to play in curbing the menace of indiscipline in the society, and appealed to the church to use the pulpit to educate its members on indiscipline.
On the Ga Chieftaincy issue, he said the GARCC was making all efforts to resolve the dispute with stakeholders without necessarily interfering.
Nii Ashietey commended the Presbyterian Church of Ghana for its efforts in supporting the government’s developmental process for a Better Ghana and urged the church to be proactive on developmental issues.
Rt. Rev. Marty would be inducted into office on Sunday, August 21, at Abetifi-Kwahu in the Eastern Region.
