Yendi Municipal Security Committee seeks partnership in handling conflicts

Yendi (NR) June 19, GNA The Yendi Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Issah Zakaria has commended members of the Municipal Security Committee (MUSEC) for the commitment in handling security issues.

He said Yendi in particular and Dagbon as a whole needed to develop economically and financially for the betterment of posterity. Mr Zakaria gave the commendation when MUSEC met with personnel of the West Africa Network for Peace building 96 Ghana (WANEP 96 Ghana) on Ghana= ‘s Early Warning System. The meeting also aimed at strengthening grassroots participation and ownership of Peace building initiatives. He said MUSEC needed credible information on early warning signals to maintain law and order, hence the need for collaboration with agencies like WANEP 96Ghana.

Mr Zakaria said through these efforts MUSEC would be able to carry out its responsibilities more effectively in conflict prevention based on reliable early warning information. The National Network Co-ordinator of WANEP 96 Ghana, Mr Justin Bayor expressed the need for the security agencies to view early warning signals as important in reducing violent clashes and sustaining peace. He said although early warning signals were less costly it was meaningless if there was no official response.
