Assembly vows to flush out Fulani herdsmen

Nsuta (Ash), June 8, GNA – The Sekyere Central District Assembly ha= s declared war on Fulani herdsmen who have made life unbearable for farmers i= n the area. Mr Ebenezer Akuoko-Frimpong, the District Chief Executive (DCE), said the herdsmen had become a complete nuisance and a big security threat. He said everything would be done by the assembly to ensure that they were flushed out.

Mr Akuoko-Frimpong, who was addressing an ordinary meeting of the assembly at Nsuta, appealed to people in the communities to be alert and co-operate with the assembly to deal decisively with the lawlessness and criminal activities of the herdsmen.

He said the assembly would bring development to the area and transfor= m the living conditions of the population. Through its share of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) and the District Development Facility (DDF), it had undertaken a number of development projects. Sekyere Central was allocated GH¢1,208,668.94 as its share of the Common Fund, last year, and of this amount GH¢689,335.77, representing 57= ..03 per cent was released to it. It also received GH¢519.665.72 from the DDF as reward for its good performance. Mr Akuoko-Frimpong called for the enactment of a bye-law to tackle th= e growing problem of street children in the area.
