POTAG urges FWSC to expedite implementation of SSSS

Takoradi, June 3, GNA – The Takoradi Polytechnic Branch of the Polytechnic Teachers’ Association of Ghana (POTAG) has called on the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) to expedite action towards migrating POTAG members onto the Single Spine Salary Structure.

It also called for the implementation of the court ruling on the conditions of service of POTAG members to alleviate their plight. In a press statement signed in, Takoradi, on Friday, POTAG said following the court ruling last year concerning the delayed review of the conditions of service of its members no concrete action had been taken by the FWSC to address their grievances. The statement noted that since 2008, POTAG’s conditions of service h= ad not been reviewed, which members claimed had put severe economic pressure o= n them. It said: 93It is worrying to note that none of the actions with speci= fic timelines agreed upon between FWSC and POTAG has been achieved. “Again POTAG finds it extremely unacceptable that barely one month to the implementation of the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) no clear guidelines have been drawn on which members would be migrated onto the structure.” The statement therefore called on the FSWC and all stakeholders involve= d in the salary negotiations to respect the timelines set for the implementation of the SSSS.

It charged the FSWC to come out with figures on the basic salaries of its members before migration otherwise it would advice itself.
