Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), May 23, GNA – Kwasi Agyeman, 52, a farmer at Kofikumikrom, near Dormaa-Ahenkro, has been remanded by the Dormaa Circuit Court for allegedly stealing a fowl, valued at GHC 9. Inspector Bismarck Boye Lartey, told the court, presided over by Mr Alexander Osei Tutu that, the accused was arrested by the security men at the poultry farm, where he allegedly stole the bird. The accused was caught red-handed and when asked what brought him into the coop, he replied that he wanted to sell the bird to make ends meet. He said the complainant was a poultry farmer, who had a farm at Kofikumikrom while the accused was a tomato farmer.
The prosecution said on April 15, 2011, at about 0100 hours, security men on the farm woke up to an unusual noise from the direction of one of the hen coops on the farm. He said the security men tip-toed to the coop and found the accused person holding a fowl in his hands. Inspector Lartey said the accused took to his heels when the security men were questioning him, adding that, an alarm was raised, and with the help of two other young men, Agyeman was arrested and sent to the police station.
