Arms and Ammunition found at Akweteman, Accra

Accra, May 21,GNA-Government on Friday confirmed that the Security Agencies are investigating the discovery of relatively small quantities of stripped and corroded parts of arms and ammunition. A statement signed by Deputy Information Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa indicated that the arms and ammunition were found at a Construction Site at Akweteman, a suburb of Accra, on 20th May, 2011. They are suspected to have been buried there in the late 1970s. “Meanwhile, the owner of the land has been invited to assist in on-going investigations,” the statement concluded.
