Workers urged to be disciplined

Akyem Oda, May 18, GNA – Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, the Eastern Regional Minister, has appealed to workers in the Birim Central Municipality to be disciplined at all times to ensure meaningful development of the area. “I will expect that we have discipline as part of our daily activities and to set basic standards as a worker”.

Dr Apea-Kubi said this when interacting with Heads of Departments and the decentralized staff of the Birim Central Municipal Assembly at Akyem Oda as part of his working visit to the area.

He urged the workers to set standards for themselves, to be punctual and regular at work all the time. Dr Apea-Kubi reminded the workers that the advanced countries aspired to reach where they are now due to hard work and good work ethics from their citizens. He said the impression by some workers that it was the responsibility of government to pay them at the end of each month no matter how poorly they work, should be a thing of the past.

He charged the workers not to loiter about during working hours adding that such practices did not go with productivity. Dr Apea-Kubi expressed worry about the practices of some workers to put confidential materials to the public domain and reminded those workers to be prepared to face the law when caught.

He appealed to the workers to give the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE)= , Ms Ophelia Koomson, all the support she needs to move the municipality forward. Dr Apea-Kubi noted that the success of the MCE is the success of the assembly adding 93I know she is capable of delivering but she cannot do it all alone”.
