Akatsi District exceeds 2010 revenue target

Akatsi, May 16, GNA – The Akatsi District Assembly last year collected 238,423.00 Ghana cedis, exceeding its estimated target of 214,427.00 Ghana cedis by 23,996.00 Ghana cedis.

The improved revenue performance was as a result of the creation of a Business Development Unit, public education, expansion of tax net and blockage of revenue leakages.

Mr Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, the District Chief Executive, said this at a general meeting of the Assembly at Akatsi.

He said the Assembly had pegged revenue for this year at 273,762.00 Ghana cedis and reminded the Assembly members of the high demand for development in the district.

Mr Nortsu-Kotoe said 35 boreholes had been drilled in the district, three of which have been mechanized as part of efforts to reduce water borne diseases.

He said more than a dozen infrastructural projects, mainly in the education sector would be ready by the end of the year with six new basic school projects expected to take off soon at Akatsi, Avevi, Ave-Afiadenyigba, Wuxor, Kpodzivi and Duawodome.
