Suspected accomplice in child murderer goes on remand

Half Assini, (W/R) May 9, GNA – The Half Assini District Magistrate’s court has remanded Yaw Sarpong in custody for alleged conspiracy and murder of six-year-old Kazia Boasi Blay-Kyie.

His plea was not taken and would re-appear in court on May 27.

Giving the facts of the case, DSP John Ferguson Dzineku told the court, presided over by Mr Henz Kofi Kpogo, that Sarpong was arrested at Tikobo Number Two in the Jomoro District on Saturday, April 23 for washing his face with the flowing blood of Kazia, who had just been killed by an unknown assailant.

The prosecution said the corpse of the deceased had since been released to the bereaved family for burial but investigations are underway to arrest the other perpetrators of the crime.
