Ho, May 8, GNA – The first batch of 20 students, including five females, have graduated from the Evangelical Presbyterian University College (EPUC), in Ho, on Saturday.
The University also took delivery of a brand new 65 96seater luxury Benz bus donated by government to mark the occasion.
The graduates, who were among 54 pioneer students to enter the University in 2008, entered at level 300 to pursue the B.Sc (Honours) degrees in Business Administration, with options in Accounting, Finance and Marketing.
Four out of the 13 students, who pursued the Accounting and Finance option, had First Class, eight Second Class Upper and one Second Class Lower.
The Marketing option produced three First Class graduates, and four in Second Class Upper.
“They have distinguished themselves at their studies, and by virtue of the historical circumstances surrounding their admission, have earned a first in many respects”, Mr Walter Blege President of the University said in his report.
“In many ways, it can be said that your group has been absolutely outstanding. You are being sent out as ambassadors of the Premier University in the Volta”, Mr Blege reminded them.
Other distinguished speakers such as Professor Ampiah Ghartey of the University of Cape Coast, to which the EPUC is affiliated, Mr Alex Ashiagbor, Chairman of the University Council and Colonel Cyril Necku, (retired), deputy Volta Regional Minister, congratulated the graduates and urged them to reflect the University’s motto: of 93Knowledge is Light”, wherever they might find themselves.
Colonel Necku lauded the E.P. Church for blazing the trail of University education and education in general in the region. He said government would support initiatives of the Church in its efforts at human resource development in the region and country.
