President To Continue Staying In His Private House

President Kufuor will not move to the Castle, the seat of government anytime soon as expected although renovation work at the seat of government is nearing completion. Concerns have been raised over the security of the President who now lives at his own house at the Airport residential area, which also serves us as a place for meeting dignitaries when the need arises.

The President himself has expressed dissatisfaction at the continuous discomfort his motorcade and sirens create to both road users and residents who live around his house anytime he moves from his house to the State House and back.

These concerns necessitated the speedy execution of the renovation of the Castle but the President can only move in later this year or early next year because although the President’s office is ready for use, offices for his support staff are not ready. Loose scaffolding, uncompleted meeting rooms, provision of computers and transferral of phones from the State House to the Castle are yet to be undertaken.

President Kufuor is said to be eager to move into the Castle, but the National Security Advisor, Joshua Hamidu would not allow him to do so because of security reasons.
