Latest On Indian Drugs Probe

The report on the investigation into the allegation that an Indian Company, M/S Nabros Pharma, one of the largest suppliers of drugs in the country has been dumping sub-standard drugs on Ghana, would be out soon.

Public Agenda learned by press time on Friday evening that the Food and Drugs Board (FDB) was the in the process of preparing the report . An official of the Board who did not want to be named said the Board had held meetings with outfits of the Ministry of Health relating to the issue and was preparing its report.

Attempts to get in touch with the Chief Public Relations Officer Ken Anku of the Ministry of Health for news on the Ministry’s side of the investigation proved futile.

Under the banner, “Indian firm dumps dud drugs on Ghana,” Public Agenda reported last month that an Indian national representing M/S Nabros Pharma in Accra as Business Development Manger in Africa had blown the whistle on shady deals undertaken by the company in its drug sales to the company.

“The company is dumping near expiry goods to buyers in Ghana that resulted in enormous losses to some buyers. When the products are rejected by the authorities in Ghana, the management was pressurizing me to solve the issue by unethical means than replacing them,” screedhar Rao the representative alleged.

The Food and Drugs Board subsequently, promised to have an investigation in to the allegation. The Acting Executive Secretary of the Board told Public Agenda that the Boards investigation will be over in two weeks when the Paper published the story.
