Christians asked to reflect on Jesus’ death

Accra, April 23, GNA – Reverend Moses Faith Nyomi-Nyamedi,

Resident Pastor of the Seraphim Evangelical Presbyterian Church, on

Good Friday called on Christians to use the day to soberly reflect on the

suffering and death of Jesus Christ. “The day should not be used for merry making, which would involve

drinking alcohol and over eating,” he cautioned Christians. Rev Nyomi-Nyamedi made the call at a worship organised by the

Church on the theme: 93The Meaning of his suffering”, to mark Easter, th= e

suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ, in Accra. The congregation, who were clad in mourning cloths and dresses, sung

joyous hymns and danced to the glory of God. Rev Nyomi-Nyamedi said Good Friday was a day the Lord Jesus

Christ laid down his life for sinners so that they could be saved. He said the death of Jesus was a planned event by God, explaining that

Christ himself was aware of his death, and he went through it because of

his love for humankind. “God is a passionate friend, who loves us and is concerned about our

welfare that he sent his son to die for our sins,” Rev Nyomi-Nyamedi said= .. He said the blood that came out of the body of Jesus on the cross

signified his forgiveness to those who believed in him. Rev Nyomi-Nyamedi urged Christians to understand the crucifixion and

resurrection of Jesus Christ and also emulate his lifestyle. He said that the death of Jesus should be a challenge to all Christian= s

and they must uphold truth. He prayed that the Holy Ghost would enable Christians to truly

understand Jesus’ suffering and death.
