Inter-Denominational church service to mark May Day in Volta Region

Ho, April 21, GNA – May Day, which falls on Sunday, will be marked in the Volta Region with an Inter-denominational church service at the GNAT Hall in Ho, Mr Elvis S. Van-Lare, Regional Secretary of the Ghana Trades Union Congress, told a Ho District Council of Labour meeting in Ho on Tuesday.

May Day this year, is under the theme 93Decent Work for Sustainable Economic Development”. Mr Van-Lare said workers were expected to converge at the stadium at 0700 hours to go on a route march to the GNAT for the church service.

He said the sermon would be delivered by Mr David Ampah-Bennin, Pastor and the Immediate past Volta Regional Police Commander now on transfer to headquarters.

Mr Van-Lare appealed to workers to come out in their numbers to mark this important day to demonstrate workers solidarity. He also urged employers to release workers to attend a symposium on the theme at the World Vision Centre in Ho on April 27 this year at 0900 hours as a prelude to the May Day event.
