Obuasi Assembly elects Presiding Member

Obuasi, April 21, GNA – The Obuasi Municipal Assembly has elected Joseph Festus K. Addai, an Electrical Engineer as the Presiding Member (PM).

Mr Addai who was the incumbent won, 47 votes representing more than 82 per cent, after three rounds of voting. His rival Mr Enoch Anhwire Afoakwah, Assembly Member for Bossman-Low Cost electoral area bowed out from the race.

Justice Ayisi Addo, Obuasi Circuit Court Judge who swore in the PM said there was no victor or loser in the democratic process. Mr Addai expressed the hope that the assembly would be poised to work for the development of the Municipality.

“We are going to have an Assembly that is going to develop Obuasi, an Assembly that is going to make Obuasi proud,” he stressed. The PM commended the assembly members, especially Enoch Afoakwa for the maturity shown in the elections.

“I thank you all for the trust reposed in me,” he said.
