Government supports Mathematics, Science and Technology students

Accra, April 13, GNA- Government has provided the need-based bursaries and scholarships for second-cycle, vocational and technical and tertiary students studying pure and applied Mathematics, Science and Technology for 2010 to 2011 academic year.

The Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology (MEST) in collaboration with Ministry of Education, the Scholarship Secretariat and the GETfund last year initiated a Mathematics, Science and Technology Scholarship Scheme (MASTESS) to support needy students pursuing pure and applied Mathematics, Science and Technology. In a statement signed and copied to GNA by Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Deputy Minister of MEST, said various sums of money had been allocated to these institutions and the Heads were to contact the Chief Accountant of the Scholarship Secretariat to collect their cheques.

He said the beneficiaries of the scholarships were selected by the MASTESS Implementation Committee set up by the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology. 13 April 11
