Sokode-Gborgame (V/R), April 11, GNA – A call has gone to the Ghana Education Service (GES) to stop being casual with the welfare of people engaged to supervise examinations. This is because that job demands commitment and high integrity from the invigilators and supervisors who must have a high sense of alertness.
Mr Aforfodi Asempa, Supervisor of Mater Ecclesiae School BECE Centre at Sokode-Gborgame in the Ho Municipality was speaking to the Ghana News Agency when Colonel Cyril Necku, the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, visited the Centre on Monday, first day of the 2011 BECE examinations.
He said it was disappointing that allowances for officials for last year’s examaminations were paid last week. Mr Asempa also said the quantum of allowances should reflect the commitment needed for the job.
A total of 231 candidates made up of 126 boys and 105 girls from nine schools are taking the exams at that centre.
Col Necku was later joined by Mr Kafui Bekoe, South-Dayi District Chief Executive,) to tour three centres in the district.
Mr Castro Amafoti, Assistant Director in charge of Human Resource at the District Directorate of the GES, said indications were that the examination had commenced smoothly in all the centres in the district.
