Atibie (E/R), April 11, GNA – The Mobile Maintenance Unit of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), has started rehabilitation works on the six kilometer Nkawkaw-Atibie road. This follows several appeals by motorists, chiefs and the people of Kwahu to the government for the road to be rehabilitated before this year’s Easter festivities.
All road construction equipment and materials needed for the work had been mobilized to the area for the project. The project manager of the unit, Mr Christian Nti made this known, when he briefed the Kwahu West Municipal Chief Executive and the Chief Executive for Kwahu East, Mr Alex Somuah Obeng and Mr Samuel Asamoah respectively, as well as the media, at the site over the weekend. He said the deplorable portions of the road would be regravelled and tarred while all the pot holes on the road would be filled and tarred within ten days to ensure an incident free Easter celebrations. Mr Nti appealed to drivers plying the road to exercise patience and cooperate with the workers to ensure early completion of the project.
Hr also appealed to the Assemblies to liaise with the various transport unions to have the road closed to traffic and instead use the Nkawkaw-Obomeng road to enable the project to be completed on schedule. The Kwahu West Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Obeng thanked government for listening to the appeals of the people for the rehabilitation work.
He said the rehabilitation of the road would serve a number of tourists and other Kwahu citizens, who would be visiting the area during the Easter celebrations.
He advised the people not to politicize national issues since the government would ensure fair distribution of national resources, to enhance the development of the country. Mr Samuel Asamoah, the Kwahu East Chief Executive commended the government for commencing work on the project and promised that the political leaders in the area would continue to present the needs of the people to government for assistance to enhance their living standard.
