No Ghanaian soldier involved in DR Congo plane crash

Accra, April 6, GNA – No Ghanaian soldier was involved in Monday’s fatal plane crash near Ndjili Airport in DR Congo, the Ghana Armed Forces said on Wednesday.

“Ghanaian troops in the Democratic Republic of Congo as part of the United Nations (UN) Mission in that country are safe and sound,” a statement signed by Colonel M. Atintande, Director of Public Relations, said.

The statement said it was, however, reported that a Ghanaian civilian UN Volunteer was among the passengers on board the aircraft. It said Ghanaian troops deployed at the Ndjili Airport assisted in the rescue and evacuation effort and provided security at the accident scene.
