Bawku records no crime in eight months

Bawku (U/E), April 5, GNA – The Bawku Municipality and its environs, a onetime conflict zone, has recorded no crime for the past eight months, signifying the prevalence of peace in the area. Assistant Commissioner of Police for Bawku Divisional Command, (ACP) Kweku Boadu-Pepprah, on Monday confirmed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Bawku to testify the role of the police in national development.

ACP Buadu-Pepprah noted that the security administration in the area had put strategic measures in place to ensure that there was an automatic way to secure peace for the wellbeing of the people. He said the security had worked hard for the past four years to find lasting solution to the conflict and would remain neutral and continue to stand as an agent for peace for the development of the area.

ACP Buadu-Pepprah urged the security, both police and the army, to show commitment towards work in order to achieve the aim that “dying for the state will make you heroes”. He commended the people for their support to the Security Forces to search for lasting peace and called on them not to hesitate to report any form of violence that would threaten peace in the area. Mr Abdullia Musah, Municipal Chief Executive, noted that the Municipal Security Council would continue to work hard in order to maintain peace in the area.

He said the assembly was effectively cooperating with developmental partners to secure development projects for the area. He noted that promoting the use of iodated salt and preventing and controlling malaria in the municipality and its environs were priorities of the assembly.
