Constitution Review Commission meets Ghanaians in Washington, DC.

The Diaspora Consultation, in Washington, DC Metropolis, gave opportunity to the Ghanaian Community to discuss the operation of the 1992 Fourth Republican Constitution, particularly its strengths, and weaknesses and to make submissions for possible amendments to the Constitution.

The first in the series of Diaspora Consultation in the US by the Constitution Review Commission (C.R.C) was held in the premises of the Ghana Embassy in Washington, DC on Saturday, March 26, 2011. Over a hundred Ghanaians, who were in attendance cuts across the leadership of Ghanaian Associations, Political Party Executives, Religious leaders and the Business class.

Professor Fiadjoe, Chairman of the C. R.C led a five (5) member delegation from Ghana, comprising, Commissioner Gabriel Pwamang, Mr. Rowland Atta-Kesson, Mr. Albert Agbamey and Ms. Baaba Amoah to conduct the consultative process.

In her opening address, the Deputy Head of Mission, Mrs. Edith Haizel observed that, having operated the 1992 Constitution for nearly 18 years, it is time to take a second look at it. She reiterated that, a review of the Constitution will ensure that the Basic law, that governs the lives of Ghanaians, reflects the experiences, changing circumstances and changing aspirations of our people both at home and abroad.
