Hunter mistook man for a game

Egyam (W/R), March 27, GNA 97 Tragedy struck residents of Egyam in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region on Saturday when a 38-year-old hunter, Kobena Moshie, mistook a man for a game and shot and killed him.

The body of Kwasi Eric, 36, had been deposited at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital for autopsy while Moshie had been placed in police custody for further investigations. The Kwesimintsim District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ayamga Aklogo Yakubu confirmed the story to GNA in Takoradi on Sunday.

DSP Yakubu said Moshie claimed he went to the bush around 2200 hours on Saturday for a hunting expedition and shot at a huge bird perching on a tree.

The District Police Commander said that Moshie claimed he went to look for the bird only to find the deceased lying dead in a pool of blood.

DSP Yakubu said Moshie reported the incident to the assembly member of the area, Mr. Joseph Cudjoe, and the two went to the scene. The District Police Commander said the assemblyman accompanied the suspect to the Kwesimintsim Police station on Sunday to report the tragedy.

DSP Yakubu said that one locally manufactured gun and three ammunitions were retrieved from the suspect. 27 March 11
