Ghanaian killed in Rush crash

(USA, New York State) — Monroe County sheriff’s deputies identified the man killed in a two-vehicle crash yesterday morning in Rush.

Joseph K. Glantey, 26, of Ghana was pronounced dead at the scene, said sheriff’s spokesman Cpl. John Helfer.

Glantey was driving south on East River Road, crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a northbound National Grid utility truck about 8:15 a.m. He was alone in the car. The driver of the truck was not injured, Helfer said.

Glantey was an Army ROTC cadet at the Rochester Institute of Technology and lived in Ghana with his family, Helfer said. Glantey was a senior at the State University College at Geneseo and was part of RIT’s ROTC program.

College spokesman David Irwin said Glantey came to Geneseo in January 2010 as a transfer student to study mathematics.
