Election of KMA’s presiding member deadlocked

Kumasi, March 24, GNA=96The 157-member Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) had for the second time in nine days failed to elect its Presiding Member.

Two rounds of voting on Thursday could not produce a winner with none of the three contestants, Nana Kofi Senya, Nana Owusu Apeasa II and Mr Michael Adusei polling the mandatory two-thirds majority votes. Mr Adusei withdrew from the contest after round one of the voting, supervised by the Ashanti Regional Electoral Officer, Mr Kofi Asumaning.

This set the stage for a straight battle between Nana Apeasa and Nana Senya but the deadlock could not be broken. As the two showed no sign of giving up, the election had to be fought another day.
