DOD’s Africa Center Holding Security Seminar in Ghana

The first subregional seminar sponsored by the Africa Center for Strategic Studies (ACSS) was scheduled to begin in Accra, Ghana, on August 20, the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) announced in an August 17 news release.

ACSS is a DOD-sponsored regional center for security studies. The subregional seminar, which runs through August 25, will focus on conflict prevention, complementing ongoing international and local efforts to promote peace and stability in the West African region.

The seminar is designed to generate critical thinking about African security issues. It will bring together more than 80 senior African, European, and American civilian officials, military officers, private citizens, and representatives of intergovernmental organizations in activities moderated by 12 esteemed facilitators from Africa, Europe, and the United States.
