Nyinahin (Ash), March 2, GNA – A nine-year old girl was on Tuesday killed by a truck in a freak accident at Nyinahin in the Atwima-Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.
Grace Osei was run over by the vehicle, loaded with canopies and plasti= c chairs. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ernest Fosu, Nyinahin Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that the accident happened at about 1130 hours.
The vehicle was climbing a hill and midway, the steering gear became dysfunctional and began moving with speed in the reverse direction. In the process, it ran over little Grace, who was walking by the side o= f the road before somersaulting into a valley.
DSP Fosu said six people on board the truck including the driver sustained injuries, two of them, Yaw Marfo, 35, and Akwasi Gyumah, 32, critically. They were referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for treatment. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at Kath’s mortuary for autopsy.
