Central Region NDC Youth Organizer commends President

Cape Coast, Feb. 24, GNA – The Central Regional Youth Organiser of t= he National Democratic Congress (NDC) has praised President John Atta Mills an= d former President John Agyekum Kufuor for raising Ghana’s democracy to a higher pedestal. Mr Ato Amoah told the GNA in an interview that the meeting at the Castle, Osu, demonstrated that Ghana had some patriotic citizens who were ready to bury their political differences, do away with partisan politics and to always promote the national interest.

He commended President Mills for inviting former President Kufuor, whos= e erstwhile administration the NDC government had been criticizing and the former President for honouring the invitation. “This is an example politicians must emulate,” he said. Mr Amoah said what had made the meeting between the two statesmen very assuring was that it took place a time when some politicians were fanning tribal sentiments to achieve their political ambitions. He said the two statesmen had also demonstrated their Christian belief that they were ready to forgive the wrongs done to them in the past. Mr Amoah said the meeting must encourage politicians to place the natio= n above their personal interests.

“This spirit of patriotism must be imbibed in the youth so that they dedicate their lives to the building of a better nation,” he said. He expressed the hope that those who want to make 2012 general elections 93a do or die affair” would draw a lesson from the political maturity the President and the former President showed.
