Ghana Tourist Board receives new equipment

Takoradi, Feb. 16, GNA 97 Ricerca E Cooperazione, an Italian non-governmental organization, has presented office equipment worth over 10,000 Euros to the Ghana Tourist Board to enhance its service delivery in the implementation of the West Coast Destination Management Development project.

The items comprise computers, modem, projectors, mouse pad, pen drives, starker chairs, swivel chairs, PABX installation, colt browser, binding machines and printers.

Presenting the items, Mr. Agbo Korshi Steven, a Senior Assistant Programme Officer of the NGO, said the NGO would organize capacity building workshops and training in Information Technology for the staff. Receiving the items on behalf of the Board the Regional Chief Resource Officer of the Board, Mr. Michael Kpingbi, expressed appreciation to the NG= O for the donation. Ricerca E Cooperazione is implementing the 94Ghana West Coast Destination Management Area Development” project in collaboration with th= e Ghana Tourist Board and Netherlands Development Organization, Mr Kpingbi said. The project is a 15-month pro-poor and sustainable tourism interventio= n taking place in the coastal areas in the Region which is being funded by th= e Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and United Nations World Tourism Organization. Mr. Kpingbi said the Region has coastline that has huge potentials tha= t could be explored. “With remarkable tourism attractions and potentials such as historic= al, archeological and ecological sites as well as beautiful beaches, unique biodiversity, sights and landscapes, it can be a source of revenue for the country to boost the economy,” he said
